Figuring out which 3D CAD Software to choose can be overwhelming in itself - not to mention the determining if you even NEED new 3D CAD Software!
So, how do you know if you're making the right choice?
Here are five questions to ask yourself (and your team) to ensure you make a clear decision:
1. What product design capabilities are needed to realize my company’s products?
This is super important. You don't want to choose a software that won't comply with your needs. Write down every design capability that you can't compromise on, and don't settle for less (it'll save a lot of frustration, money, and time later).
2. Can this system handle all of my legacy information?
When examining a 3D CAD software, make sure it is capable of handling ALL of your legacy information. Some new software doesn't work with old information, so before making any purchasing decisions, ensure that this can be taken care of.
3. Are my projects/goals achievable with this software?
Go back to the list you made under Question #1 and compare it with the design possibilities of the software you are considering. If the two lists do not match, this software may not be right for you. If they do match, it's worth considering.
4. Does this system have the flexibility and functionality to meet my product design needs as they change?
